What a Dental Implant Consists of:

Dental implants are the next best thing to permanent teeth. A dental implant has three parts:

  • Implant – Made of Titanium or Zirconia (ceramic), it is surgically put into the patient’s jawbone and serves as a root for the crown.
  • Abutment – This is attached to the implant, putting the crown in place.
  • Crown – The ceramic tooth-like fixture or porcelain crown is placed onto the abutment.

Two Types of Implant Materials

Zirconia and Titanium Implants comparison

Metal-alloyed Titanium

Metal titanium is alloyed with other types of metals that can fuse to the jawbone. Metal titanium could corrode and darken the gum to a black color and can be visible if the gum recedes.

Metal-free Zirconia

A metal-free, ultra-biocompatible, and ceramic implant root is an alternative to old metal alloyed titanium with a strong bone integration and natural tooth-colored root.

Types of Oral Implant Placement

Endosteal (In the Bone)

Usually resembling small screws, endosteal implants are surgically inserted deep into the jawbone where they take place of tooth roots.

Subperiosteal (On the Bone)

Due to a lack of enough healthy jawbone, subperiosteal implants are inserted under the gum but aren’t drilled into the jawbone.

Facts about Dental Implants:

Dental Implants permanently fuse and integrate to the jawbone and are made of:

If you are missing one or more teeth, implants can allow you to regain normal function and be able to confidently show off a nice smile with confidence once again.

Ceramic dental implants help you to overcome oral problems and health issues that come with a missing tooth, it helps you to eat, chew, smile, talk, and look completely natural. This functionality imparts social, psychological, and physical well-being.

If you believe that root canal is the “root cause” of many medical conditions, and looking for alternative to root canal therapy, an extraction with ozone therapy and L-PRF (bone graft from our own blood cells), followed with metal-free dental implants are considered the healthiest and holistic oral surgery.

Is the Tooth You May Not See Still Important?

Some people think that it is OK to have a missing back molar tooth because you can’t see them….

When a Molar is Lost…

Our primary goal is prevention, but if one or more of your molars needs support, we can help.

Reasons to Consider Dental Implants:

There are many advantages to dental implants:

A restorative option like a fixed bridge often requires cutting down the adjacent healthy teeth to support the restoration. A dental implant, a long-lasting and more conservative solution, looks and functions like a natural tooth and replaces a single tooth without sacrificing the surrounding teeth, like a bridge or partial dentures do.

If you have a missing tooth, the gap is not only a cosmetic concern, but also it will cause surrounding and opposing teeth to shift, which ultimately leads to uneven crowded teeth as well as change in your bite and pain in your facial joint and TMJ. A dental implant will keep your teeth aligned and prevent further dental problems.

A dental implant unlike a fixed bridge can help you to preserve the health of your jawbone from deteriorating. It also prevents your sinus to drop into your jawbone.

A Dental implant helps to regain and rejuvenate your smile by giving the bone plenty of stimulation. A metal-free implant makes you look younger, healthier, and more beautiful.

Several worldwide research indicates that the root canal of an infected tooth is the “root cause” of many medical, systematic, and autoimmune conditions since each tooth is intrinsically connected to a part of our body. Thus, if you like to avoid root canal therapy for your damaged tooth, you have an option of extraction with ozone/oxygen therapy and L-PRF (bone graft from our own blood cells), followed by metal-free zirconia implants for one the healthiest and holistic approaches of oral surgery.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Oral Implant?

Almost anyone with missing teeth who possess good oral and overall health and adequate bone mass in the jaw is a candidate for a dental implant. Those who do not have sufficient bone mass in the jaw can have a procedure called bone grafting.

To make tooth extraction and implant placement virtually painless, our cosmetic dentist and implant specialist offer oral surgery services of titanium and preferable metal-free zirconia Implants (Ceramic Implants) with options of local anesthesia, oral conscious sedation, and/or IV sedation. Let our skilled team and certified holistic doctors and specialists give you the most natural and minimal invasive oral surgery solution for your long-term wellness.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental Implants Success Rate

With all the recent advances in dental implantology, patients should expect their implants to remain in function for many years, quite often a lifetime. The individual success rate for an implant is determined in part by several patient factors that may include the amount and quality of the existing bone when the implant was placed, the type of restoration and the patient’s hygiene or maintenance program, life habits, and general health.

Disadvantages of Missing Teeth:

Timeline of Dental Implants

Your dental implant timeline will depend on your unique needs and multiple other factors such as bone level, location of sinuses, or the health of your gum. With traditional dental implants, you may need to wait a few months before you can receive your restoration. However, we also offer same-day extraction and implant placement in just one appointment to our qualified candidates.

Metal-free Zirconia Vs. Titanium?

Choosing dental implant materials should be an informed decision since it is going to stay in your mouth for a long time and affect your oral and general health. It is very important to choose the least reactive and toxic material possible, like zirconia implants.

metal free zirconia implant Vs. titanium implants comparison table

How Long Does a Zirconia Implant Last?

Dental implants are an excellent and modern choice for long-term tooth replacement and could last a lifetime. Dental implants’ lifespan depends on many important factors:

There are hundreds of different implant systems from different companies and countries. There are many low-quality dental implants in the market that not only last enough but also fail and cause more complications.
You need to choose a dentist who only places metal-free zirconia (ceramic) dental implants with the highest quality from the most reputable implant companies and a consistent proven track record of successful results.
At Aria Dental in Mission Viejo, we place FDA-approved implants from the most researched implant companies with the highest quality and the most advanced Implants. They include Nobel Biocare (USA), Zimmer Dental (USA), Straumann (SWZ), and Z-System.

Dental Implants provide long-term, indefinite sustainability when properly maintained with adequate brushing and flossing, assuming the patient receives regular dental check-ups.
Like natural teeth, dental implants are as sturdy and susceptible to decay and need to be maintained through regular home-care hygiene. In server cases of poor hygiene, dental implants could fail due to periodontal (gum) disease.
Feel free to contact Aria dental at (949) 364 – 9600 to learn more about dental implants and proper care techniques.

Tooth Location is also a factor in the expected longevity of the dental implant. The molar teeth (back teeth) can fail more quickly than implants in the front of the mouth due to receiving more strain from chewing.

Dental implants could last a lifetime, but health issues could cause an implant to fail prematurely. People who suffer from preexisting medical conditions such as diabetes and cancer have a higher risk of dental implant failure.
If you have questions about dental implants, our implant specialists can tell you more about dental implant options.

Dental Implants Vs. Dentures or Bridges

Why Not Choose Bridge or Partial?

Although, people have relied on the traditional bridge to literally “bridge” the gap left by a missing tooth for decades, but in today’s modern, holistic, or biomimetic dentistry, it is not considered the optimal solution.

A traditional bridge features one or more artificial teeth or “pontics” supported by healthy and natural teeth on either side of the gap. Before the bridge is placed, the adjacent teeth on both sides need to be drilled down and prepared for a crown to hold the artificial teeth and normal force.  Once the material of healthy adjacent teeth is removed which is against biomimetic and conservative dentistry, these teeth are at increased risk of complications such as non-healthy root canal fracture and recurrent decay. Thus, metal-free zirconia dental implants are a far better and more optimal solution for missing teeth rather than traditional bridge or titanium alloyed implants.

Dental Briges Vs. Implants
dental implant and bone resorption 3D illustration

How about a Maryland Bridge?

A Maryland bridge features a slightly different design and attachment process than a traditional bridge. Maryland bridge doe does not require to remove and eliminate surface material from the healthy and natural adjacent teeth. Instead, a Maryland bridge is secured in place with an adhesive resin to attach the bridge to one or both neighboring teeth with little or no tooth removal. In contrast, Maryland bridges are a good option for replacing front teeth in the “aesthetic zone.” However, the Maryland bridge does not have a durable bonding application as a traditional bridge, which means that forces exerted during biting and chewing can lead to fracture or debonding of the pontics (artificial tooth). Therefore, the Maryland bridge can be an attractive option to replace a missing tooth and enhance the aesthetic but is not considered as a functional for a missing tooth.

7 Things to Know before Getting Dental Implants?

Nowadays, everyone is looking for safer and healthier options when it comes to their health, lifestyle, and well-being. If you are concerned about your health, you need to place your dental implants in a holistic and biological dental dentist who practices the most natural and ultra-biocompatible materials that are the safest for your mouth, body, mind, and environment.

Dr. Horiyat and her team focus on treating people with a myriad of dental concerns while preserving their overall health.; they understand the philosophy that each tooth and its surrounding structures are connected to the various organs, tissues, and glands through the “Meridian Energy Chart.” In our renowned holistic dental office, we focus on strictly complying with holistic, biological, physiological, and integrative protocols from IAOMT, IABDM, IAOC, HDA, and AAOT.

When choosing a dentist for your dental implant, you want to be sure that they are specializing in dental implants. As most dentists offer a range of treatments, it’s important to check that the dentist regularly places dental implants to ensure you are getting the best possible treatment.

At Aria Dental, our implants are placed with implant specialists or American Board-Certified Periodontists who have more than 20 years of experience with 1000s of successful results.

Since traditional X-rays and Panoramic X-rays provides only 2D imaging, 3D CT-Scan is required for a detailed analysis of jawbone volume as well as assessment of the teeth, gum, bite, and aesthetic factors. In addition, the 3D CT-Scan imaging of your jawbone and teeth is very important for accurately viewing vital tissues such as nerves and arteries to prevent any damage during the procedure. However, the most dentist would not have this technology within their practice.

At Aria Dental, we follow the ‘best practice’ procedures by providing the latest and hi-tech dental implant services such as in-house 3D Cone Beam CT-Scan.

Advanced technologies and the latest science not only offer faster diagnosis and treatment, but also ensure a more effective treatment option.

At Aria Dental, we are committed to use the latest and most advanced materials and equipment to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment, improve the standards of patients’ dental care, and enhance the result of our patients’ experience.

There are hundreds of implant systems. It is very important to use only implants from the most reputable implant companies with a consistent, historically proven track record of successful osseointegration and results that you can depend on.

At Aria Dental, we only place FDA-approved & Metal-Free Zirconia (Ceramic) Implants from the most researched implant companies with the highest quality and the most advanced Implants. They include Nobel Biocare (USA), Zimmer Dental (USA), and Straumann (SWZ). And Z-System.

Many patients are unaware of where their crowns are being made, with many being constructed overseas. However, you should remember a crown is going into your body; therefore, it is advisable to receive your crowns from a laboratory that is under the control of the USA Health Department. We do not send your crown to other countries.

A failed dental implant is an unusual situation, but it does occur. It happens when osseointegration fails to happen; osseointegration is a biological process that allows your body to produce bone cells around the implant surface.

At Aria Dental, we could save your failing implant with modern LAPIP Protocols for Peri-Implantitis. LAPIP™ treat peri-implantitis quickly and effectively with less invasive and tissue sparing treatment.

According to Millennium Dental Technologies Inc, The LAPIP protocol is the only patient-friendly solution for ailing implants. “Studies indicate 95% of the failing implant treated with LAPIP Protocols have reintegrated in the pocket and stabilized with bone growth of 3-8 threads.”

Our Patients Say...

I had a good experience in Aria Dental. Shima is so friendly & help. Dr. Horiyat took time to listen to my concerns. She is very knowledgeable & helpful. I am glad that I found her.
The problem is not with the dentist rather than the assistants. Nothing got accomplished as they lead me to believe a simple fix would be 125 dollars. When they came back it was over 10000. It would have been nice if they informed me prior to appointment that insurance does not cover any or little of Holistic Dentistry. Now I got to go find another dentist again, which is annoying.I have high end insurance.

Nothing but excellence! After experiencing what I thought was a chipped or cracked tooth, I went to Aria Dental on the strong recommendation of friends The diagnosis was thorough and to my relief, it wasn’t a tooth after all. This guy here was overdue for a deep cleaning by a few decades! Today, I had my appointment and I was slightly hesitant and simultaneously relieved to finally be getting this done. Connie was my technician. I’m sure there is a more appropriate term. Nevertheless, Connie handled the procedure better than I could have imagined! Even the sedation was painless…how did she do that? Connie was very expert during the entire 2+ hours and even made me laugh more than a couple times. The bottom line is that I can’t say enough good things about the operation that Maryam runs and I will not be doing much more regular maintenance. I’m hoping they give me Connie every time. She was fantastic! Thank you Aria for taking such good care of me. I highly recommend this fine establishment!!
