What Is LANAP® Periodontal Surgery?
LANAP® (Laser-assisted new attachment procedure) is a remarkable and non-invasive laser procedure that is used as a painless, safe, and highly effective alternative to conventional gum disease surgery. LANAP=LAR is the only scientifically proven methodology that results in true periodontal regeneration, new bone growth, and gum tissue attachment. It is accomplished with PerioLase® MVP-7 digital pulsed Nd: YAG dental laser for the treatment of Periodontitis “Gum Disease”. The energy from the laser will reach bacteria quickly and eradicate them with up to 90 percent less inflammation of surrounding tissues.
LANAP® not only fights severe periodontitis by eradicating bacteria and regenerating natural cells in the patient’s tissue but also encourages bone development around existing teeth and decreases the risk of tooth loss.
When Is LANAP Laser Gum Surgery Necessary?
LANAP® laser gum surgery is necessary because it treats gum disease and prevents periodontitis. Gum disease occurs when the accumulation of plaque and tartar leads to bacterial infections on the gum tissue as well as the expansion of periodontal pockets between gums and teeth which ultimately leads to gum recession and loosening of teeth. Our body reacts to the early stage of infection by inducing an inflammatory response such as gum swollen, gum bleeding, and sensitivity; however, if left untreated it leads to severe periodontitis, dental abscesses, damage to the bone surrounding the teeth, bone loss, and loss of teeth. LANAP® surgery could help to restore optimal oral health and prevent the wore complications from progressing.
What Happens After the LANAP® Procedure?
Your gums will be sore for a few days after the LANAP® surgery. Dr. Horiyat may recommend some medications to minimize discomfort after the LANAP® procedure. Unlike traditional gum surgery, the LANAP® procedure is minimally invasive and does not require cutting or suturing of gum tissue, thus, the recovery will be faster. During the first 24-hour period after laser gum surgery, Dr. Horiyat may recommend staying on a liquid diet. For the following three to seven days after treatment, she only recommends a soft diet consisting of nutrient-dense foods. Dr. Horiyat always recommends staying away from form hot (temperature), spicy, crunchy, and chewy foods.

Our Patient Say...
EXCELLENT Based on 317 reviews Posted on Jeanine Starkey FisherTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The whole team at Aria Dental are totally accommodating and very kind. I had to reschedule an appointment. Steve is incredibly efficient and wonderful to work with. I needed to bring in my kids during the rescheduled appointment, all the staff were so patient, engaging, and interactive with the kids. They even gave them balloons and goodies during the appointment. I am new to Aria dental and this area, they have made this such a delightful experience. I am looking forward to their care and healing hands.Posted on Joy KeithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This office and its staff are the best. Thanks.Posted on Noelle PerkinsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. If you choose this office, go in expecting that estimates may increase significantly, that costly add-ons such as ozone therapy and exosomes may be included, and that your out-of-pocket costs may be far higher than what you are initially led to expect. I initially received treatment here for two elective extractions—one upper molar and one lower molar—both of which had prior root canals with mild, localized inflammation at the root apex. These were not emergency procedures or full-blown infections. I chose this office specifically for its proactive, holistic approach. After the extraction of the upper molar, I experienced a serious complication. Despite an ozone wash and bone grafting, I developed a severe sinus infection that lasted nearly a month and required antibiotics. When I contacted the office for guidance, I was told it was unrelated and advised to see my primary care physician. I was not asked to return for evaluation to determine whether this was a surgical complication requiring follow-up. During healing, a Maryland bridge was placed to maintain spacing at a cost of $1,200 out of pocket. Unfortunately, it was several shades different from my natural teeth and very noticeable when I spoke and smiled. Around this time, I was also given an Invisalign quote from this office that was more than double what I received from two other practices. At that point, I felt consistently upsold, the pricing lacked transparency, and the quality of work did not meet expectations. Because of these experiences, I lost trust and paused treatment. I later returned only to avoid the hassle of switching offices and because I believed I understood what to expect. I was told I would need a sinus bump, received a quote, placed a deposit, and scheduled surgery accordingly. After my deposit was placed, the treatment plan changed. I was then told I required a full sinus lift instead of a sinus bump, at a cost approximately $3,000 higher than previously discussed. When I asked reasonable questions about why the plan changed—especially given that the sinus infection and collapse followed an extraction performed at this office—I felt dismissed, was told the increase was due to material costs, and was blamed for returning months later rather than given a clear explanation. At no point was there acknowledgment that the initial extraction may have contributed to the complication, nor any discussion of shared responsibility or goodwill adjustment. I was not expecting a free procedure, but I did expect accountability, transparency, and some recognition of a poor outcome following care provided here. Insurance coverage also ended up being significantly less than what I was initially told to expect, further increasing my out-of-pocket costs. I understand that complications can happen. What I did not expect was to feel continuously upsold, to have treatment plans and pricing change after deposits were placed, and to ultimately be held fully financially responsible for outcomes that followed care provided at this office. I requested my deposit back and chose to seek care elsewhere.Posted on Nastaran BayatTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 🚨SCAM ALERT 🚨 You just need to walk in this place for them to charge you $400. I went in for a service that is fully covered by my insurance (just cleaning) ended up paying $800 for X-rays cleaning and a consult! THEY WILL ROB YOU BIG TIME. AVOID THIS PLACE.Posted on Lisa MylesTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I travel quite a distance to come to this office and it's worth EVERY mile. My dental hygienist, Jonathan,(hope I spelled it right, lol), is a pro at what he does. I honestly feel so relaxed in his chair that I tend to drift off to sleep. Everyone there is so welcoming, respectful, and professional. It makes what use to be a stressful necessity for me, so much more relaxing.
